Around midday on February 14, 1975, twenty-one-year-old Antoine Séverin was returning from work near Piton Calvaire, Petite-Île, Réunion, when he reportedly followed repeated beeping sounds toward a cultivated field. He described a brilliant hat-shaped object hovering about one and a half metres above the surface, with a short three-step ladder beneath it. Three small beings in white, padded protective-looking outfits allegedly came down. Their heads bore short antenna-like projections; one carried an instrument and another a shiny bag. A fourth figure was visible in the upper portion of the object. Séverin said a powerful flash threw him down, after which the beings withdrew and the object departed with a loud whistle.
