Nashville entity encounter — February 25, 1976

Around 7:30 p.m. on February 25, 1976, a woman driving a country road near Nashville in Washington County, Illinois, reported two unusual figures. The HUMCAT entry identifies her only by confidential initials. She first noticed something tan at the edge of her vision. Farther along the road, a second tan-colored figure stood beside a telephone pole, with a darker, poorly defined form behind it. The second figure was estimated to exceed eight feet in height. Its distinguishing features were a large head without a visible neck and unusually large shoes or feet. As the car drew level with it, a bright blue light shone toward the driver. She accelerated away. A contemporary CUFOS summary adds that the blue light remained visible in her rearview mirror; it does not establish a physical attack or boarding of a craft. HUMCAT attributes the entry to an investigators' report by Kretsch, DeSario and Gunwald. The brief documentation does not resolve whether the dark shape was a vehicle, another figure or background scenery. No definite spacecraft is described. The plate therefore shows the woman inside her car, the tall tan figure at the closer observation, an unresolved dark form behind it, and blue illumination. Exact facial features, body covering and the source of the light remain uncertain; no stereotyped alien species or detailed flying machine is added.
