Case description
At about 6:15 a.m. on May 11, 1976, Mrs Kent was walking through Higher Fold, Leigh, Greater Manchester, before work. She was taking an item of clothing to her daughter nearby. Passing a grass-covered former spoil heap, she reportedly noticed a smooth silver sphere partly concealed by the hill and a motionless figure beside it.
The fuller account describes sunlight reflecting strongly from the sphere and a beam extending down the road. The figure resembled a silver mannequin, with a cloak, broad sleeves, pointed lapels and a pointed hat. Its arms hung at its sides. Glare prevented a useful view of the face. Mrs Kent estimated the sphere as room-sized, but the relative scale of figure, object and hill was uncertain. On returning from her daughter’s several minutes later, she said the figure was still present and chose another route home.
By around 6:40, when she passed again on the way to work, it had disappeared. The source trail includes Northern UFO News25, Jenny Randles’s Flying Saucer Review account and MUFORA’s investigation. No definite ground traces were established, partly because the grass had recently been cut. Neither the sphere’s arrival nor departure was described. The plate retains the unusual pointed hat and cloak rather than replacing the figure with a helmeted astronaut, while treating the witness likeness and road layout as contextual.
