Sant'Onofrio, Abruzzi unidentified light report — May 18, 1976

At about 10:30 p.m. on May 18, 1976, a man and his family at Sant'Onofrio in Abruzzo, Italy, reportedly noticed a large object near a nearby hill. The account compares its size with a house. It then approached their home and directed a strong yellow light over the surroundings from its upper section. A large circular opening in the object emitted red light. A dark manlike shape appeared inside it, seemingly looking toward the witnesses, before moving away from view. The report does not supply an identifiable face, unusual eyes, clothing details or any direct exchange with the figure. A fuller ITACAT-derived summary also describes a second object: a gray sphere with a surrounding ring hovering above an abandoned house at the same time. The reporting chain leads to Maurizio Verga's Italian catalogue, with NICAP citing ITACA Tcase 85. The surviving accounts leave the main object's exact shape, distances, observation duration and family members' identities unspecified. The second sphere should not be confused with a second detailed occupant sighting. The reconstruction includes the two reported objects, representative family observers and the single dark opening silhouette, while making clear that architecture, likenesses and fine craft structure are contextual choices rather than established evidence.
