Case description
Stephen Taylor, 17, reportedly encountered the phenomenon while walking home near Pen-y-cwm, Pembrokeshire, at about 9 p.m. on 13 March 1977. He first saw an orange, luminous, pear-shaped object and stopped at a friend’s house to describe it. His friend did not believe him. Continuing about half a mile, Taylor noticed that farmhouse lights had disappeared behind a dark, dome-shaped mass in an adjacent field, with a faint glow beneath it.
Hearing footsteps, he turned toward a thin, roughly six-foot figure only yards away. He compared its face to an elderly man’s, describing high cheekbones and large, round, fishlike eyes. A box covered its mouth, with tubing running over a shoulder; its one-piece suit appeared partly transparent. Taylor swung toward the figure and fled. At home his dog reportedly growled and barked at him, but behaved normally the next day.
NICAP’s fuller chronology attributes this account to Webb and Bloecher’s HUMCAT, citing investigator Randall Jones Pugh of BUFORA. The sequence is reported testimony, not independently demonstrated contact. The aerial pear shape and grounded dome are successive observations; their identity and the dog’s reaction remain interpretations within the account.
