At approximately 8:15 p.m. on 4 April 1977, Susanne Fortier was walking behind her Gorham home with her collie when she heard a wind-like whistle. She reported a small object landing near her children’s playhouse. Its stated diameter was only about five feet; she described eight supports, an antenna and openings around its circumference, through which a red-lit interior was visible. Fortier said six occupants, each about three feet tall, were inside. Their appearance was unusually specific: bald heads, wrinkled faces, elongated narrow eyes, broad ape-like noses and gloves.
