Case description
On 20 April 1977, eleven-year-old Mark Marston was looking for birds’ nests in a hedge at Herbrandston, Pembrokeshire. The account says a red glow appeared in the sky approximately fifty yards away. A few moments later, a figure appeared at the opposite end of the field and seemed to drift through a closed gate.
Mark described a silver outfit resembling a diver’s suit, a large helmet and a square, featureless face. The figure reportedly approached rapidly. He turned and ran home screaming. The published sequence does not describe conversation, physical contact, entry into a vehicle or the figure’s subsequent departure; its face should not be supplied with eyes or other features that the witness did not report.
The account entered HUMCAT as 1977-19, citing Randall Jones Pugh’s work for BUFORA, and was subsequently summarized in the 1977 NICAP chronology and Rosales’s catalogue. This was a single child’s reported encounter rather than an independently established identification. The aerial observation was a red glow: the source does not resolve a solid craft or establish how the figure and glow were connected.
