Case description
A truck driver near Ragusa, Sicily, reportedly saw a low object while resting beside the highway around midnight on May 5, 1977. The source chain leads to Maurizio Verga’s Italian catalogue, case 93, and later summaries by Albert Rosales and NICAP. Later Sicilian writing associates a similar May 1977 encounter with driver Antonino Amore.
The witness said yellow light suddenly illuminated his cab. Its source was a grey metallic, oval object close to the truck and near the ground. Through an opening he reportedly saw a single figure wearing dark grey coveralls and a helmet. The figure seemed to control or aim the light. No detailed unmasked face, conversation or medical examination appears in the supplied account.
This report should remain separate from Angelo Cappuzzello’s better-documented December 1978 truck encounter on the Catania–Ragusa road. The matching road and profession do not make them one event. The illustration includes driver, lorry, oval object and helmeted occupant; the vehicle’s fittings and the driver’s likeness are interpretive, while the concealed face avoids inventing an alien anatomy.
