Toppenish disc-shaped object report — July 4, 1977

Four people reportedly observed a disc-shaped object over Toppenish on July 4, 1977. The catalogue gives 7:45 p.m., labelled PST, and a duration of about five minutes. Its estimated diameter was 20–22 feet. One witness’s first-person description says six or seven people were visible aboard while it hovered overhead; these are occupants, distinct from the four observers on the ground. The expanded telephone-interview summary describes a primer-grey exterior with welding-like indentations and no markings or emblems. The reporting woman said the interior appeared to spin. She described ordinary human-looking occupants wearing white laboratory coats: one man had a red tie, and one woman wore glasses in a 1950 s style. The object reportedly produced a musical sound resembling an ice-cream van’s tune. It then accelerated, made rapid back-and-forth movements, rose vertically and disappeared. The NICAP chronology preserves this unusually specific account, but the accessible entry does not identify the witnesses or supply the original recording and follow-up investigation.
