Case description
A later case compilation places this experience near Sonora, California, on October 30, 1977. A woman travelling with her husband reported that blue smoke or a blue cloud surrounded their car, after which the engine and lights stopped. Some published listings identify her as Martha Throne. The hour is not consistent across the surviving summaries, which variously place the event in the evening or late at night.
The woman said she lost consciousness and next became aware of humanoid figures carrying her toward an oval object resting on supports. They were described as greyish, with flat noses and coverall-like clothing. Her account continues with a bright interior, reassurance experienced as telepathic communication, and an examination. Those are her reported experiences; the accessible material does not independently establish an abduction or a medical cause. Watches were also said to have stopped.
The documentation trail is retrospective, including a cited Sonora Daily Union Democrat item from November 1982 and subsequent chronology entries. The inherited Atlas text repeated part of the story and then appended an unrelated Salisbury Plain account involving a military policeman. That separate episode is not evidence about the Sonora witnesses and is excluded from this narrative. The useful record is the couple's alleged vehicle incident and the woman's subsequent recollections, with the precise timing, method of recollection and physical corroboration still incompletely documented.
