Guadalajara unidentified light report — December 18, 1977

Miguel Herrero Sierra, a thirty-four-year-old driver from Alcalá de Henares, said that he was travelling to fish near the Buendía reservoir on December 18, 1977, when his vehicle's lights and radio failed near Tendilla, Guadalajara. The imported digest places it shortly after midnight; fuller Spanish accounts instead place the journey before sunrise, around six o'clock. He described a landed, hat-shaped object and normal humanlike occupants in diver-like clothing. The invitation to enter was said to be telepathic. A later analytical account describes two beings and a craft approximately eighteen metres long. Herrero claimed an episode lasting about three hours, while consciously remembering only around fifteen minutes. Light hypnosis was subsequently used to revisit the story. Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos's 1994 review in the Journal of Scientific Exploration classified the Tendilla case as a hoax, citing the subject's tendency toward fabrication and the assessment of psychologist Javier Parra. This is a substantive published finding that the short imported catalogue omitted. The Atlas retains the reported sequence alongside that evaluation; its reconstruction explicitly displays the hoax finding while placing the witness, humanlike figures and craft together.
