Case description
Ten-year-old Eduardo Enrique Lacayo reportedly saw an unusual object while playing outside his uncle's house in Escazú on May 2, 1978. The fuller account, attributed to Carlos Vilchez through Albert Rosales, places the episode around 6:30 p.m. Eduardo followed a cat toward an empty lot and noticed a silvery object resembling two soup plates joined together, giving off yellow light and wobbling high above the field.
A grey mist allegedly descended from the object and assumed a humanlike form suspended above the ground. It wore a long cape or tunic and gold-colored shoes without laces. The boy recalled thin lips but no other clear facial detail. The figure extended its arms as if beckoning. Eduardo then became afraid and ran; looking back, he saw the object climbing rapidly, while the figure was no longer visible.
The reported height is 1.70 metres in the Rosales account. The imported NICAP wording of 170 metres is an apparent transcription error. The cat's raised fur and flight are observations attributed to the boy, rather than independent testimony. The available source comparison identifies no recovered contemporary investigation, so the account's claimed transformations remain uncorroborated.
