Case description

The Atlas preserves two source accounts associated with Emilcin, Poland, in May 1978. They concern the same rural setting but do not describe the same witness sequence. Keeping them separate is essential because only one of the preserved entries supports the CE4 classification. The principal entry, attributed to Larry Hatch and cited publications, describes a farmer who encountered a box-shaped object roughly five metres across. Four humanlike men, each approximately five feet tall, were associated with the object. The short catalogue text characterizes the episode as an abduction or involuntary taking. The summary available to this pass does not preserve a dependable step-by-step description of how the farmer approached the object, entered it, what occurred inside or how he returned. Those missing transitions are not reconstructed as fact. The portrait therefore stops outside the object, before any claimed onboard episode. The account unusually notes numerous birds around the scene. That observation is retained as a reported environmental feature, but the source does not establish the species, their behaviour or whether investigators regarded them as evidential. The Hatch entry cites International UFO Reporter, volume 3 number 7 and volume 8 number 6. Those publication references provide a route toward the fuller interviews and investigation. Until those original articles are examined, the Atlas does not borrow detailed facial, clothing, cabin or procedure descriptions from later popular versions of the Emilcin story. A second NICAP-linked account concerns an associated observation. A woman cooking heard a thunder-like sound that seemed to come from the ground. Her son, Adas, then told her that a small house-like aircraft had passed low over their barn. This is a separate witness report and contains no abduction. The associated sighting may help establish that unusual reports circulated in the same area, but it does not independently confirm what the farmer said happened. A sound heard by one person and an object reported by another cannot be treated as observation of the claimed onboard sequence. The previous Atlas presentation emphasized this brief associated sighting while leaving the reason for the CE4 label unclear. The revised dossier restores the source distinction: CE4 rests on the farmer's alleged taking, while the low object near the barn remains a separate supporting report. No authenticated photograph, film, physical sample or official instrument record is displayed in this pass. If archival imagery is later located, it must be matched to the correct witness account and cleared for display. Questionable or derivative imagery will remain a source link rather than appearing as evidence. CE4 therefore records the involuntary-transport claim preserved in the Hatch entry. It does not mean the separate woman-and-child account involved transport, and it does not convert a terse secondary summary into a verified event. The portrait reconstructs only the shared visual facts available here: an adult farmer in the rural Emilcin landscape, exactly four short humanlike figures, a low box-shaped object about five metres across and many birds. It is an illustrative reconstruction, not a photograph or a reconstruction of an undocumented interior.
