Case description
A thirty-one-year-old woman reported an unusual observation from her rural Delano home around 2:30 a.m. on September 15, 1978. In the fuller catalogue account, she had been awake in bed for about half an hour before a strange feeling prompted her to look through the south window. She described a bright moon in a clear sky and, toward the southwest, a silent elongated arrangement of red and pink light.
The apparent object was somewhat smaller than the Moon in angular size, and its outline was vague. About one hundred yards from the window, she also saw two figures who looked like normal men wearing white suits. It was too dark to distinguish their features. They reportedly began walking toward the house, stopped and turned back. The lighted object then approached quickly near the ground before climbing away westward.
The account entered International UFO Reporter and later HUMCAT-related summaries, with conflicting issue references. No observed boarding or emergence establishes that the men occupied the lighted object. Their human appearance, distance and poor visibility leave that association uncertain. The plate therefore keeps the figures ordinary and the airborne light unresolved, without inventing a metallic hull, detailed alien faces or a meeting at the window.
