Case description
Late on a January night in 1979, forty-two-year-old woodcutter Antonio Conte was driving near Lusiana, Vicenza, when his engine and lights reportedly failed and the car doors opened. The imported catalogue uses January 18; some Italian retellings use January 19. He described an orange, rounded object with a flattened base settling ahead on the road.
Two small humanoids emerged. Conte said they wore metallic, copper-coloured or bronze-looking outfits with a scaly appearance, had long pointed fingers, and had twisted wire-like structures where ears would normally be. Their gestures invited him aboard. In a small interior with electronic-looking equipment, he became frightened when they tried to remove his jacket and offered a suit. The narrative says they stopped when he resisted, gave him a small inscribed object, and let him leave.
Accounts describe him returning home shaken and later telling a friend; a local newspaper interview followed. The alleged small object has no established public chain of custody, and later claims about its hiding place do not demonstrate an extraterrestrial artifact. The plate uses the catalogue date while illustrating only the initial roadside scene, with Conte, both described figures and their craft together, fully clothed and without invasive action.
