Tyler entity encounter — January 24, 1979

NICAP’s brief January 24, 1979 Tyler entry calls this a close-range sighting with a humanoid encounter, but provides no descriptive account. A contemporary Project VISIT report by Richard Niemtzow and John Schuessler places a related, detailed episode that night near Lindale, about four miles outside the town. Their witness, identified there only as Scott, said recurring dreams had preceded his experience. At about 10:15 p.m., Scott stopped beside the road, leaving his car running with its lights and cassette player on. He described a sparkling green-and-yellow flash striking him, wind around the vehicle and his hair standing up. Two objects appeared with a moving violet-red light between them. His next memory was sitting in front of the car, cold and frightened. The engine was stopped but reportedly restarted after a ringing sound. He reached home at 5:30 a.m., where his friend Ron was waiting. The investigators recorded a persistent diamond-shaped chest mark, damaged clothing and blank sections on a cassette. Their article includes an elaborate drawing of one of the two objects. It also recounts different experiences involving Ron in 1977 and on January 17 and 28, 1979; those separate events should not supply invented occupants for Scott’s January 24 episode. The report was preliminary, the witness declined further participation, and hypnosis was proposed rather than already supplying the published account. MUFON’s editor explicitly urged caution and further investigation. The plate depicts the reported roadside sighting without asserting a confirmed abduction, cause of injury, or humanoid presence that night.
