Case description
An early-morning report dated March 2, 1979, concerns an unusual object seen near a transmitter tower in Rivera, Uruguay. The fuller catalogue account identifies Ernesto Fagundez and his son as working at the tower when the object circled it and then stopped. The brief NICAP summary calls the object ovoid.
Through openings described as portholes, the observers reportedly made out beings with unusually large heads and transparent helmets. The source does not establish their number or provide reliable facial or clothing details. After several minutes, the object allegedly swooped over a truck carrying farm workers. The workers were said to have thrown themselves onto the pavement. It then departed upward, leaving what was described as a fiery trail and a thick column of smoke.
The publication trail includes the “Foreign Forum” section of International UFO Reporter, volume 4, number 2, August 1979, as cited by later catalogues. No original signed statements, tower logs or independently assessed photographs were located here. The tower observation and truck incident belong to the same reported sequence, but the surviving summary does not identify every observer or explain exactly how each detail was obtained. The plate depicts that alleged sequence with indistinct helmeted occupants, without implying an authenticated vehicle or crew.
