Mirassol, Sao Paolo State entity encounter — June 18, 1979

Antônio Carlos Ferreira, a young night watchman at a furniture-factory construction site in Mirassol, São Paulo, reported encountering an oval object on three supports in June 1979. The imported NICAP entry uses June 18; Brazilian accounts, including the local Sesc history, use the night of June 27–28. The plate therefore gives the month without choosing between the conflicting dates. Ferreira described three short occupants with large heads, helmets, equipment on their chests and backs, and markings on their clothing. He said that red light immobilized him and that he was moved aboard, where his ordinary recollection became incomplete. More elaborate journeys and conversations were subsequently associated with hypnotic sessions and later reported encounters. Those stages should remain distinguishable from the initial observation. The case became the subject of an extended Brazilian investigation and a continuing series of claims. Neither the witness's occupation nor his educational background establishes the explanation of the experience.
