Case description
At approximately 12:30 p.m. on June 19, 1979, two people near Rauma, Finland, reported seeing a small silver-grey object outside their rural home. A blue beam appeared to sweep the nearby forest before switching off. One observer went closer while the other remained near the house.
The closer observer described a transparent upper dome containing two tiny figures with large eyes and mottled-looking skin. Small supports held the object above the ground, and controls were reportedly visible inside. As the observer reached toward it, a sudden brilliant flash caused temporary loss of vision; the object then departed with a whistling sound. Eye irritation reportedly continued afterward.
APRO's bulletin and later Finnish-source summaries preserve the account, although retellings differ over which observer approached. The source trail includes Juhani Kyröläinen and Pekka Teerikorpi. The illustration represents the outdoor observation, and the linked video contains a specifically identified Rauma segment within a broader encounter compilation.
