Case description
Several unusual observations were reported in the Canoga Park–Chatsworth area of California during the early hours of July 25, 1979. A bright white object was associated with a car, and witnesses also described a luminous form manoeuvring above the Chatsworth Reservoir area.
In a fuller retelling of the local series, four teenagers saw a low object near Shoup and Vanowen at about 2 a.m. Later, Mickey Childers was awakened by barking dogs and watched an object with her son Dean near the reservoir. Their observation included changing coloured lights and lasted roughly twenty-five minutes.
At about 3:15 a.m., a cocktail waitress identified as Sherry N was driving home through Chatsworth when a bright object appeared to descend toward her near Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Plummer Street. She initially feared a plane was coming down. She drove away and reached home, where she realized that around half an hour was missing from her remembered journey. In the later account she also described nausea and blisters on her legs the following morning.
The separate observations were investigated as part of a wider July–August 1979 San Fernando Valley series. The waitress’s missing-time experience is kept distinct from what other people saw from cars and houses, even though those reports occurred close together in place and time.
