Case description
At about 2:30 a.m. on August 2, 1979, two motorists on the Île d'Oléron in France reportedly saw a green flash overhead followed by two descending luminous spheres. The locality is catalogued as Le Delus. The spelling and precise observation site remain unverified, so the reconstruction uses the better-supported island name rather than an exact street or property.
One sphere reportedly moved toward the rear of their vehicle, while the other descended close to the ground. A large rectangular opening became visible in the lower object. Three humanoid figures were then said to descend a ladder from that opening. The witnesses did not remain to investigate: they drove quickly away. Consequently, no completed landing inspection, conversation, close facial view or craft departure is established by the account.
NICAP and later humanoid catalogues trace the report to Denys Breysse's Project Bécassine material. The located versions give no names, figure heights, clothing colors, object dimensions or independently examined physical evidence. Those gaps should not be filled with conventional Grey features or details from other French cases. The plate retains the two spheres, rectangular opening, ladder and three indeterminate figures with the motorists, while treating perspective, road layout, car and garment details as contextual.
