On the evening of August 19, 1979, Linda or Lynda Jones was walking beside the River Mersey in East Didsbury, Greater Manchester, with her teenage daughter and young son. They were collecting wildflowers when a luminous object drew their attention above the trees. The fuller catalogue describes an initially golden light, a descent behind rising ground, and a closer view of an object with a curved underside, domed top, bright white illumination, and a red light around its rim. Jones reported that surrounding sounds ceased. After the family returned home, the time appeared later than expected. A subsequent onboard narrative emerged through hypnotic regression. It should be distinguished from the family's reported riverside observation and time discrepancy.
