Yakima unidentified light report — May 1981

An unnamed woman near Toppenish Ridge in the Yakima area reported an unusual nighttime experience during May 1981. The fuller catalogue account says she had observed slow-moving lights in the area for about two months. On the night in question, she awoke, noticed that the electricity was off and felt a breeze from the kitchen. Her husband came down the hallway and moved past her to close the kitchen window. She then heard a sewing-machine-like sound and turned to see a figure she described as a feminine-looking man. Its distinctive features were narrow rounded shoulders, a thin head and a thick, turtle-like neck. She could not distinguish eyes, arms or legs; that describes her limited view, not a demonstrated absence of those body parts. Her next recollection was of floating above the cornfields behind the house. The expanded account continues with a large whitish domed disc above the field and a violet-like light through which she remembered ascending before the memory ended. These remain the woman's reported recollections, with gaps in their sequence. Her husband's presence at the window does not establish that he witnessed the figure or craft. The plate labels its combination of the kitchen encounter and later outdoor recollection as a composite and leaves the figure's unobserved details unresolved.
