Case description

Around midnight on 16 August 1981, an unnamed lone driver near Winnipeg reportedly encountered a huge object gliding above the road. Its central body carried roughly two dozen long, narrow projections, each estimated at fifty feet or more. They glowed intensely red-orange and were arranged above and below the central mass in opposing conical patterns. The account compares the resulting shape to a spiked jellyfish, rather than an ordinary disc. The object moved over a farmer’s field and hovered at an estimated 150 feet. The driver parked, got out and approached as it glided back above the roadway. Within illuminated openings in the central body he could make out two or three head-and-shoulder silhouettes. He could not distinguish facial features. When he waved, he interpreted successive red and green flashes from inside as a response. Chris Rutkowski’s Abductions & Aliens is cited for the fuller account, which also mentions unusual radio music before the sighting. The imported location incorrectly combines Winnipeg with British Columbia; Winnipeg is in Manitoba. Neither the description nor the apparent response establishes who occupied the object or what generated its light. The illustration therefore places the witness and unusual filament-like craft together while showing the occupants only as dim outlines. Detailed grey faces, hanging biological tentacles or an ordinary saucer would misrepresent what this witness actually reported.
