Meinau Island, Bodensee entity encounter — September 1981

The Bodensee account is assigned to September 1981, without an established day. A holidaymaker was camping on the southern side of Lake Constance when a very loud sound woke him around midnight. Looking out of his tent, he reportedly saw a bright spherical object descending rapidly overhead. The catalogue places the case near an island written as Meinau; another rendering spells it Mainau. Through an opening or port in the sphere, the witness briefly made out a humanoid figure apparently dressed in green. The object then moved away in a rapid zigzag and disappeared. The account gives no reliable facial features, size estimates, conversation, landing, injury or physical trace. Green describes the apparent outfit, not the occupant’s skin, and the brief port view does not establish an anatomical type. NICAP traces the report to UFO Nachrichten 279 through Project Becassine. A separate catalogue gives approximately 12:10 a.m., whereas NICAP says midnight, so the timing remains approximate. The witness’s campsite is not securely fixed to the island itself. Nearby entries about a woman called Ciama and telepathic reassurance belong to the separate Italian Cavallo account and must not be joined to this German lakeside report.
