Case description

This Black Sea story is dated February 10, 1982, and concerns six unnamed Soviet sailors supposedly sent by their ship to inspect a vessel thought to be disabled. They reportedly rowed into a fog bank and disappeared. Thomas Bullard’s case 74 supplies a specific source: Henry Gris’s “Space Aliens Kidnap Six Soviet Sailors,” published in the National Enquirer on November 2, 1982. It identifies no known investigation and gives the account a low rating. The alleged survivors said a grappling device lifted their boat into a cigar-shaped craft. Inside a circular room they encountered approximately twenty humanoids, about four and a half feet tall, wearing luminous diving suits. Gesture-based communication supposedly included an invitation to remain. The story then adds food pills, several days of impaired awareness, a fatal jump overboard and escape in an unusual luminous boat. No authenticated naval personnel names, rescue log or medical records accompany the accessible account. Its chronology and numbers are unstable: Bullard distinguishes a five-day absence from a three-day onboard period, and versions disagree about how many men departed or stayed. Those contradictions should remain visible rather than repaired through invention. This is a tabloid-origin abduction allegation, not a demonstrated Soviet naval incident. The illustration confines itself to a labelled speculative cutaway with safely depicted sailors and suited figures; it does not visualize the claimed death or present unknown facial anatomy as evidence.
