Case description
MUFON’s May 1982 California Report dates this sighting March 12, whereas the NICAP ledger gives March 15. Mrs W.R. and her children, six-year-old Louisa and four-year-old Tommy, were driving east on the 210 freeway through Glendora toward San Dimas. They saw a bright, vertically oriented red rectangle with a darker red cross and a broad orange glow. The mother estimated the observation at about two minutes.
She and Louisa reported an internal humming or vibrating sensation, weakness and dizziness. Mrs R. had trouble keeping her lane; she specifically attributed that to her condition rather than the car malfunctioning. The children described coloured light and flames as the object apparently disappeared behind a cloud. The family arrived later than expected, but the report does not establish where the extra travel time went.
Only Tommy described a ghost-like figure emerging from the object and collecting stars in a bag. His mother and sister described a cross instead. Their grandmother contacted news outlets and observatory staff, reaching SKYNET that evening. Planned prompt medical tests were not completed. This is a child’s distinct visual account within a family sighting, not a confirmed occupant or abduction. The date conflict and differences between observers remain explicit.
