Case description
Donn Shallcross, an emergency medical worker near Slanesville, reported an encounter in the early hours of March 22,1982. A contemporary Associated Press account places him in West Virginia, correcting later catalogues that say Virginia. After his cats reacted at the door, he saw lights he thought belonged to an aircraft going down. He alerted his wife and daughter, then drove toward an abandoned farm, where his car stalled.
Continuing with a flashlight, he said he met a short, human-shaped figure wearing a silver one-piece outfit and eye visor, holding a baton-like object. It identified itself as a watchguard. Shallcross described a quiet saucer roughly twenty-five feet across, hovering above the pasture, with lights and a central band. As an opening appeared, he felt burning on his face and hands. The figure vanished, and the object rose and accelerated away.
Trooper D.B.Burkhart said he found nothing at the pasture to verify the craft story. He observed skin marks but offered an ordinary possible explanation. Gray Barker later interviewed Shallcross and noted the lack of medical documentation. Bullard’s catalogue also preserves claimed telepathic advice about resources and atomic power. The plate follows the contemporary visor, baton and central-band descriptions; it does not portray the reported burn as a demonstrated extraordinary injury.
