Mersin entity encounter — July 1982
Mersin, Turkey
Open this case in the interactive Atlas
Case description
An unnamed witness at Mersin, Turkey, reported a metallic disc during July 1982. The brief account gives an estimated diameter of fifteen metres and a height above ground of about a hundred metres. It compared the craft’s profile to two plates joined together. No precise July date, time of day or detailed observation site is supplied.
Through what appeared to be an opening, the observer reportedly saw several short helmeted occupants moving about. Their motions were described as stiff and mechanical, resembling those of robots. That comparison concerns movement: it does not establish that the figures were metallic machines, and the source does not describe exposed mechanisms or a recognisable alien face. It also does not say that occupants descended, approached the witness, spoke or collected samples. The entire alleged observation is of figures within an aerial object.
The cited chain is Jean-Pierre Troadec in Project Becassine, later reproduced through Rosales and chronological catalogues. A named witness interview, photograph or independently authenticated investigation was not located. The plate retains the metallic two-plate shape, airborne setting and helmeted forms seen through an aperture. Their exact number, clothing, the observer’s likeness and the lighting are explicitly artistic. The source’s limited detail supports a brief reported occupant sighting, without grounds for adding an abduction, landing or confirmed robot identity.
