Case description
During the night of July 22–23, 1982, campers near an ambulance dispatch office in Sainte-Dorothée, Quebec, reported an object with changing coloured lights and a strong white beam directed toward a field. Richard Glenn’s interview material identifies three boys, including Stéphane Ledeau, François and Michel, and dispatcher Denise Labre. The imported digest’s four sixteen-year-olds is therefore not a precise match to the fuller witness grouping.
The boys described going into the field with flashlights, a sudden gust and simultaneous stomach pain. They retreated toward their tent. The object reportedly departed, with a low sound, before noises outside drew them out again five to ten minutes later. A stronger diving flashlight revealed a tall, stooping form with long arms. A newspaper version attributes a bulky brown head and orange eyes to Ledeau’s description.
The youths denied hearing animal noises or receiving telepathic communication and sought shelter with Labre. Footprints were reportedly noticed but washed away by rain before preservation. Labre also described radio interference. These are separate reported observations; the object’s departure prevents assuming the figure was seen beside it. The illustration explicitly labels its combination of phases. Animal misidentification remains a proposed explanation, not an established result.
