Corby unidentified light report — September 1982

Ros Reynolds and her boyfriend reported an unusual journey while travelling to visit friends in Corby in September 1982. The compact NICAP entry places the event under Corby, but Jenny Randles’s fuller account locates the initial sighting near Haverhill, Suffolk. Reynolds described a luminous object above power lines, compared to a jellyfish with hanging strands of energy. Light surrounded the Ford Cortina, followed by unusual silence and engine trouble. After a gap in her recollection, the couple continued to their destination and discovered they were much later than expected. Sources give approximately three or four missing hours. Later, Reynolds described distressing dreams and underwent hypnosis. The resulting account included small, large-eyed beings supervised by a taller humanoid and an alleged examination aboard an object. Those details belong to later recovered imagery rather than an uninterrupted conscious observation. Published retellings associate the experience with subsequent health and reproductive concerns, but the retrieved material does not independently establish an extraordinary medical cause. Her boyfriend’s limited recall also should not be presented as confirmation of every later detail. The plate distinguishes the roadside scene from its hypnosis-derived entity inset and omits procedures. Month-only dating and the journey-based title retain the geographical and timing uncertainties.
