Case description
At approximately 11:10 p.m. on November 19, 1982, a thirty-six-year-old nurse driving south of Temperanceville noticed a green light above a field. The location was in Virginia’s Eastern Shore region, not far from the Wallops Island facility. She stopped her car to examine the light more closely.
The witness described a circular, silvery-grey object directing a bright shaft of light onto the field. A large bubble-like opening near its centre was illuminated by a softer white light. Through it she reportedly saw three dark, humanlike shapes moving about, visible from the waist upward. The account does not resolve facial features, skin colour, or clothing; later illustrations of specific alien types would add details she did not report.
The object moved toward the stopped vehicle and passed overhead, producing a humming sound compared with a generator. It continued toward the bay and disappeared. The published source trail leads to Bob Grattan’s report in the October 1983 MUFON UFO Journal and subsequent catalogue summaries. The event concerns an exterior observation of an illuminated object and apparent occupants; no landing beside the witness, direct exchange, or taking aboard is described.
