Case description
On August 9, 1983, Julio Platner was leaving a farm near Winifreda, La Pampa, Argentina, when he reportedly encountered an intense light while opening a gate beside his vehicle. Néstor Berlanda's investigation account places the farm north of the town and the event at about 7:30 p.m. Platner described shielding his face and hearing a turbine-like whistle.
He said that his next awareness was inside a softly illuminated room, seated in a chair, with four humanlike figures nearby. Berlanda stresses that Platner did not describe seeing an exterior spacecraft during the initial flash. This differs from some condensed versions in which he follows a visible UFO before leaving his van.
The researchers' account dates the incident to August 9, while an APRO Bulletin digest uses August 7. The Atlas preserves the disagreement rather than blending the versions. The plate depicts the farm-gate light, without assigning a shape to its source. Later claims about physical procedures and subsequent encounters require their own source context.
