Tingsryd abduction report — February 3, 1984

At about 1:00 a.m. on February 3, 1984, forty-year-old Ante Jonsson was driving home toward Tingsryd after visiting friends in Ingelstad, Sweden. Snow was falling and the road was slippery. Near Uråsa, he glimpsed a small figure beside the road and a huge dark object hovering over a meadow. When he stopped, the figure had disappeared. Jonsson drove home to collect his camera. He returned around 1:30 a.m. and initially found nothing. While turning farther along the road, he saw the object again, now over the roadway. His Saab slid as he braked and became stuck in a snowbank. Jonsson said a short, dark figure seized him when he opened the door. In his February 6 police interview, he described repeatedly trying to escape, being intercepted by similar figures and being guided toward the craft. His memories then became interrupted. He recalled a passing vehicle, crawling in the snow and seeing the object depart before reaching his car again. At 1:50 a.m., a caller identifying himself as Bengt Johansson alerted Växjö police to a car and dark object near Uråsa. Officers found Jonsson in his car, frightened and confused, with cramped hands and violent shaking. They took him to hospital, where he was treated and subsequently transferred to Sankt Sigfrids hospital. The caller was never located. Police returned to search the area that afternoon without finding marks where the object was said to have hovered. Jonsson later kept extensive notes about dreams and further contacts, beginning in March 1984. He described additional beings, journeys and conversations over the following years. Those later experiences became a separate, continuing part of the account he discussed with researcher Clas Svahn.
