Case description
In July 1868, Parramatta surveyor and engineer Frederick William Birmingham recorded an elaborate visionary experience in a manuscript later known as his Book of Revelations.
Birmingham described encountering or perceiving a radiant humanlike figure and an extraordinary ark-like vessel. The experience combined technological, religious and apocalyptic imagery. He wrote it down in detail, creating a genuine nineteenth-century document even though the event itself was private and visionary.
Later UFO writers extracted the ark and aerial elements as a pre-saucer contact case. That comparison can be historically interesting, but it risks removing the account from Birmingham's spiritual language and personal worldview. The source does not establish that an external craft appeared over Parramatta.
The important evidence is the manuscript and its date, not a physical trace. Psychological, religious and literary interpretations are more directly supported than an extraterrestrial one.
CE5 is retained because the inherited taxonomy treats the reported communication as contact. The portrait shows Birmingham writing while the ark appears transparently as a vision, not as a solid object in the town. It is an illustrative reconstruction.
