Case description

A retrospective Belgian report places an unusual nighttime observation near Antwerp in 1935; fuller compilations identify the locality as Malines, now Mechelen, and the witness as Mr Aerts or Alerts. Hatch gives approximately 11 p.m. The central image in the account is a large, shining object above the roofs of nearby houses, compared to an aluminium pan. Two small figures reportedly appeared at the rear of the object. Their head coverings were described as square helmets fitted with short antenna-like projections. They moved in a stiff, mechanical fashion while apparently examining the exterior. Some retellings describe them floating or moving around the hull. The description concerns their movement and equipment: it does not establish that they were machines, nor does it provide identifiable eyes, skin or other exposed facial features. The source trail runs through retrospective UFO literature, including UFO Register material and accounts associated with J. G. Dohmen and Jules Weverbergh, rather than a located 1935 newspaper investigation. The witness’s name spelling and the broader Antwerp versus specific Mechelen location should remain visible as transmission differences. No verified photograph, recovered object or detailed contemporary corroboration accompanies the short account available for this record.
