Case description
A letter received by the Swedish Air Force on 28 September 1952 described an observation said to have occurred in July 1947. A foreman identified by initials G. N. and members of his work team reportedly watched two wingless, cigar-shaped objects from approximately 500–600 metres away. Each had two rows of small windows and a larger opening forward of the middle.
The foreman used a theodolite to examine one object. At the larger window he thought he could distinguish an unusually large, owl-like face with large eyes and a mouth instead of a beak. He considered that it might be a mask. Movement was important to his interpretation: he believed he was seeing a moving face rather than a painted image. The account then describes the objects departing.
The geographical labels require care. The catalogue heading gives Grängesberg, Dalarna, while the underlying narrative identifies Mårtansberg near Rättvik; those are not interchangeable locations. Rosales's compilation traces the account through Luis González Manso and Jan Aldrich's Project 1947 research into Swedish defence files and October 1952 press coverage. The report is retrospective, and the face was an instrument-assisted interpretation at considerable distance. The plate compresses that distance and depicts the reported mouth and eyes without turning the uncertain masklike appearance into established extraterrestrial anatomy.
