Viljandi, Estonia being encounter — 1950

A woman interviewed many years later recalled seeing an unusual object near her family farm at Liiduvere, in the Viljandi district, when she was six in the summer of 1950. It lay in a clover field bordered by woods, several hundred metres from the house. She remembered a sudden impulse to go toward it. The object resembled a wingless, wheelless aircraft or cigar, approximately six metres long, with silver ends and a dark central opening. Four small men, only a little taller than the girl, moved awkwardly around it. They wore bright green hooded clothing framing unusually red faces, with eyes she remembered as strange and motionless. One tapped or kicked the craft with a foot. She believed some exchange took place, later interpreting it as telepathic, but could not recall its content. Frightened, she ran home and saw the object leave smoothly and quietly. Jüri Lina’s Flying Saucer Review article traces the story to Tunne Kelam’s investigation in the 1970s. The witness’s mother and grandmother reportedly did not accept her account. The long interval between childhood event and interview limits the precision of dialogue and appearance.
