Farmer Maurício Ramos Bessa reported a daytime encounter near Santana dos Montes, Minas Gerais, in January 1953. In the fuller SBEDV-linked account, he saw a small metallic, domed object hovering low above the ground at about 1 p.m. The imported catalogue instead assigns January 3 around noon; the fuller version gives January 12.
Bessa described two short figures outside the object, wearing shiny lead-grey garments that covered their heads. Bright areas on their chests and rounded, shining footwear stood out. One figure used or examined the ground with a short cylindrical object. A third figure was said to remain inside the craft. He reported feeling unable to act normally and experiencing a headache; the object was gone when the episode ended.
The catalogue’s three figures collecting soil compresses this arrangement of two outside and one inside. Likewise, its regional code should not replace the fuller account’s Minas Gerais setting. The Atlas preserves the reported sampling activity while making no claim that a sample or tool was recovered. The illustration’s January-only title acknowledges the unresolved day.
