Case description
Thirteen-year-old cattle herder Máximo Muñoz Hernáiz reported a strange encounter at La Islilla near Villares del Saz in early July 1953. The date varies between 1 and 2 July, with local solar time also complicating the recorded hour. He said a faint sound drew attention to a small, shining, upright jar-shaped object near him.
Three very short beings allegedly emerged through an opening above. The newspaper interview gives roughly sixty-five-centimetre figures with yellow faces and narrow eyes, blue outfits resembling festival musicians' uniforms, flat caps with small visors and badges on their arms. They spoke words he could not understand. One lightly touched his face; later family recollection described a cold, shining hand. They returned through the upper opening and the object departed rapidly with a faint sound but no smoke trail.
The boy's father reportedly visited the site with a Guardia Civil officer and found small prints and four holes. Ofensiva published a series of articles that July. Ballester Olmos and José Calatayud visited in 1967, but the adult witness declined to meet them; they spoke with his parents and could not locate the claimed additional observers.
Ballester also records Manuel Osuna's troubling report of a staged-looking newspaper-archive photograph involving a child in a jar. Its relationship to the original event remained unclear, preventing a conclusive verdict. The account therefore retains both supportive testimony and the possible joke context. The plate uses month-level dating, reported costumes and three small figures while omitting contact with the child.
