Gorbio, FR being encounter — 1954

An unnamed man placed this encounter on a private hillside path near Gorbio during spring 1954, around 2:40 a.m. Returning home, he reportedly heard metallic hammering and voices. A domed disc, roughly five metres across and a little over one metre high, hovered close to the ground. Two suited figures of different heights stood beside it, one apparently inspecting or repairing something underneath. He described close-fitting luminous clothing, head coverings and veils over the faces. A light from a device allegedly immobilised him. When the shorter figure raised its veil, he reported a tanned face with broad high cheekbones, pointed chin, a long thin curved nose, a patchy beard on one cheek and large white eyes without visible pupils. The figures made gestures he interpreted as an invitation; the larger seemed to calm the smaller. Both returned slowly to the craft, helping one another. The witness described losing awareness and later seeing the object depart amid golden-orange light and small sparks. Flattened grass was allegedly visible the following day. The story surfaced through Jean Chasseigne and 1970s UFO publications, approximately two decades after its supposed date. Its precise date and the principal witness’s identity remain unavailable in the accessible account.
