Case description
Mrs Carrière's story was published by Charles Garreau and Raymond Lavier in 1975 as a letter describing an encounter during August 1954. She had been holidaying with her husband and six children at Saint-Sauveur-la-Sagne. Returning from village shopping one morning, she reportedly saw a very black, balloonlike object descend into a nearby field.
A very small, humanlike figure with an unsettling dark face reportedly stepped outside. Another remained inside the machine. After only a few seconds, the first figure hurried back aboard and the object rose silently, leaving a bright white trail. The two occupants were therefore not both observed walking outside, despite the compressed ledger's wording.
Carrière also described two cows collapsing and a nearby farmer and his wife becoming immobile, as she herself felt. The account supplies no independent veterinary diagnosis or physiological measurement. Patrick Gross's source comparison identifies the approximately twenty-year publication delay, missing original letter and absent detailed investigation. The exact August day and the ledger's precise morning time are not established by that earlier version. The plate retains three adult observers, two small figures and the black sphere, while showing the cows resting safely rather than illustrating distress.
