Case description
Marie-Louise M. reportedly saw an unusual object while taking her regular walk near La Croze, west of La Basse-Gorce in Saint-Priest-Taurion, during summer 1954. She was fifty-seven and described a clear, sunny day around 12:30–1 p.m. From a path near a crossroads she noticed a brilliant, flattened hemispherical object at the boundary of a meadow and an avenue of spruces, about fifty metres away.
The object was compared in size to a large car, with predominantly red coloring and adjacent orange and yellow bands. It stood on a tripod-like support, approximately one to one-and-a-half metres above the ground. Two very small figures, about a metre or less tall, seemed to collect material from the meadow. Their heads appeared unusually bulky and their overall appearance metallic gray; the investigator could not establish whether they wore helmets. They reportedly went beneath the object carrying what might have been vegetation, after which it rose slowly, trembled, and accelerated away above the trees.
Gilles Magne’s report appeared in Lumières dans la Nuit in 1980. The witness had died in 1977, and the precise interview chronology remains unclear. A later November-at-midnight version conflicts with the detailed daylight account. She did not approach the site, so no measured landing trace or identified sample should be invented.
