Moussoulens, FR being encounter — September 23, 1954

Marcellin Rouzeaud, forty-two, recalled driving from Moussoulens toward Carcassonne around 3 a.m. on September 23, 1954, to collect a friend arriving by train. Near the RN 269/RN 113 junction, a luminous mass resembling half an egg blocked the road. He stopped his Traction Avant about ten meters away and approached, initially thinking another motorist needed assistance. A humanlike figure in a long cape emerged, its face indistinct. It discouraged him from approaching through gestures and unintelligible speech. Rouzeaud interpreted repeated pointing toward the Moon and the craft as a promise to return at the next moon; that meaning was his inference. A second, shorter figure appeared. Both reentered the object, which rose vertically with a rustling sound and accelerated northward. Investigators François Taseï and Jean-Claude Baillon recorded the detailed story in the 1960 s, more than a decade later. Rouzeaud also claimed a small chestnut-sized object had been left behind and passed to acquaintances for analysis. The subsequent chain of custody is unclear: one intermediary later called it ordinary iron or slag, and the specimen was not recovered. No verified laboratory report supports exotic material. GEOS International published the investigation in 1969. The case therefore preserves an unusual retrospective testimony, rather than an authenticated alien artifact or a literal translation of the gestures.
