Case description
The Toulouse report is variously dated September 30 or October 1, 1954, at about 1:30 p.m. In Figuet and Ruchon's fuller version, an unnamed woman was gathering washing because a storm threatened. From the garden behind her house she reportedly saw two brilliant disc-shaped objects in a field near a lane leading toward an old mill, then called her husband to watch.
Two small figures, compared in height to twelve-year-old children and apparently clothed in aluminium-like material, approached one another between the objects. They seemed to converse, but no actual words were recorded. Each then returned to a separate disc and appeared to merge into its surface. The objects rose and departed rapidly; this version gives approximately five minutes for the complete observation. Source summaries differ over whether the discs rested on the field or hovered near it and whether the distance was 100 or 400 metres.
The source chain runs through La Dépêche of October 8, 1954, the Mesnard–Bigorne manuscript and later catalogues. Figuet subsequently listed the uninvestigated press case as doubtful. No close description of faces, independent physical trace or recovered direct interview supports more precise anatomy. The illustration keeps the couple, two discs and two aluminium-clothed forms together, while its broad date title preserves the disagreement.
