Case description
On 1 October 1954 at approximately 6:45 p.m., young workers Devoisin and Condette were cycling from Ligescourt toward Vron after work. Devoisin, riding ahead, noticed a mass on the road about 150 metres away and something moving beside it that he initially took for an animal or child. As they approached, he thought the figure looked like a small person in a diver’s outfit, possibly with a mask. He could not specify its clothing colour.
In Albert Enderlin’s contemporary Courrier Picard interview, both men described an orange, beehive- or haystack-shaped object with a pointed top, approximately two metres high and three metres wide. Devoisin said the figure went behind it; he did not see an open door or direct boarding. At their closest, about seventy metres away, the object spun, rose and moved silently across beet fields toward the Logis Vert woods. Devoisin climbed an electrical support to try to keep watching.
Later summaries compress this into a diver entering a silent disc, but the original interview gives a less definite occupant sequence and a beehive outline. No landing trace was found. Relatives and acquaintances described the young men as upset afterward; that reaction does not independently identify the object. The reconstruction follows the contemporary cyclist account.
