Case description
The Saint-Perdoux story was reported in French newspapers during October 1954. A forestry worker named Lacambre, sometimes rendered Lacombe, said he encountered a very small man beside a stream on October 4, around 8:10 a.m., about two hundred metres from his home. The imported summary adds a bottle, while fuller versions describe drinking from a cupped hand.
The figure was said to be about ninety centimetres tall, bareheaded, wearing a broad leather belt, shorts or underpants and small leather shoes. It collected pebbles and carried pear-shaped objects beneath its arms. Lacambre reported approaching after fetching a shotgun, hearing an unintelligible word and seeing the figure rise vertically. No separate saucer or conventional cabin was described.
Barthel and Brucker later reported a hoax admission; Figuet also cited information supporting that conclusion. Jean Sider challenged their interpretation. The illustration therefore labels the disputed reported-hoax status and shows the worker, small adult figure and pear-shaped devices, without adding a spacecraft. Apparent skin tone, face, scenery and device construction remain interpretive.
