Case description
Pierre Lucas, a 20-year-old bakery worker at Pen-ar-Prat near Loctudy, reported an encounter at about 4 a.m. on 5 October 1954. While drawing water from a well, he said a saucer-shaped object about 2.5–3 metres across stopped nearby. A small figure approached, tapped his shoulder and uttered words he did not understand.
Lucas reportedly returned to the bakehouse and the stranger followed. In the light he described an oval, hair-covered face and two unusually large eyes, comparing them with crow's eggs; its height was about 1.2 metres. He called his employer, Le Goff, but the visitor had disappeared before the latter arrived. No physical traces were found. Some later magazine versions changed the description to one eye, a helmet and projecting wires, which should not be merged with the early two-eyed account.
Contemporary follow-up newspapers offered a trained goat belonging to a passing circus as the explanation. Much later, Barthel and Brucker said Lucas acknowledged that the story was a prank. These are different explanatory reports, not independent confirmations of a spacecraft. The record retains both their provenance and the original claim, while avoiding an unsupported Grey classification. Its plate is explicitly a reconstruction of the initial story with the later goat/prank accounts noted.
