Case description
Fourteen-year-old apprentice plumber Jack Legeay reportedly encountered an unusual luminous form while cycling between Cloyes-sur-le-Loir and Montigny-le-Gannelon on October 9, 1954. The source summaries give approximately 7:30 p.m. He described a ball of fire, estimated at about two metres across, apparently resting on the roadway ahead of him.
A black human-like silhouette was visible in the centre of the luminous object. Frightened and unable to retreat, the boy reportedly called for help. The object then disappeared rapidly into the air. The earlier summaries place the silhouette within the light; a later catalogue's wording puts a figure in front of it. The plate follows the earlier interior-silhouette description and leaves the bright form unresolved, rather than inventing a metal saucer around it.
Michel Figuet and Jean-Louis Ruchon trace their account to La Nouvelle République du Centre-Ouest of October 11, 1954, and a later Belgian UFO bulletin. They specifically caution that the witness's inability to move backward does not establish actual paralysis. No injury, measured physiological effect or independent medical examination is documented in the recovered account. Nor is there a detailed description of the silhouette's face, clothing or anatomy. The record therefore preserves a frightening roadside observation by one young witness, with the cause of the light and apparent figure undetermined.
