Case description
A contemporary press dispatch reports that cinema projectionist Mr Hoge, returning from an evening show near Rinkerode, in the Münster district of Germany, noticed bluish light in a field beside the road. The event falls on the night of Saturday 9 into Sunday 10 October 1954. Later catalogues differ between those dates and describe the object variously as ovoid or cigar-shaped.
Hoge said he watched from roughly sixty metres away for about ten minutes. A cigar-like object hovered around one and a half metres above the field, surrounded by blue light. Four small beings were gathered around or beneath it. Their broad bodies and large heads contrasted with thin legs; their clothing looked like rubber. He did not approach more closely. The figures eventually climbed a ladder into the object, which tilted, accelerated diagonally and appeared as luminous discs as it receded.
The French newspaper Combat carried the DPA-derived account on 13 October, quoting the Gazette de Lausanne. This provides a contemporary publication trail, although it does not independently verify the encounter. The dispatch gives no reliable face, skin or finger description, spoken exchange or recovered material. Its broad-bodied, rubber-clad figures should not be replaced by generic Grey imagery.
